Why Test Fertilizer?

The analysis of both custom blended and manufactured dry and liquid fertilizers must meet certain specifications on the plant food contained in the fertilizer. Failure to meet these specifications can result in substantial fines. Each State performs regular, random fertilizer analysis for regulatory purposes. However, it is in the fertilizer dealer's best interest to have the state inspector pull two samples when they inspect the product. The dealer can then retain one sample to be able to check the State's results, and possibly avoid an improper fine.
